1. Information collected

This website automatically collects and stores visitor IP addresses and related technical information (such as browser type and device details).

2. Purpose of collection

Security: IP addresses are logged to detect, investigate, and prevent suspicious or malicious activity (e.g. hacking attempts, denial-of-service attacks, or spam).

Website performance: IP data may also be used to maintain reliable operation of the site.

This is in line with Principle 1 (purpose-limited collection) and Principle 3 (notification) of the Privacy Act 2020.

3. How information is stored

Logs are kept on secure servers with restricted access.

IP data is stored only as long as needed for security monitoring, generally not exceeding [insert your timeframe, e.g. 90 days], unless required for a security investigation.

After that period, data is securely deleted or overwritten.

4. Sharing and disclosure

IP logs are not shared with third parties except:

where required by New Zealand law or legal processes; or

where necessary to protect the integrity and security of this website.

If third-party hosting or monitoring providers are used, they may process this data on my behalf under comparable protections required by NZ Privacy Principle 12.

5. Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to request access to and correction of any personal information I hold about you. Since IPs are not directly linked to identity, access requests may be limited.
